Eligibility and Overview

Students must enroll in one of the following courses to participate. Click the links below for program and pricing information:

Instructor permission and a minimum 2.5 GPA is required to enroll in the 0103-332 or 0103-532 courses. 0103-332 is intended for undergraduate students with no prior field experience and 0103-532 for graduate credit is open to college seniors or post-graduates with some prior field or laboratory experience in archaeology. These courses run concurrently but program costs vary. Note that students will travel on their own accord to Fairbanks, Alaska, where they will meet the project directors.

Summer Session II: Applicant review will begin January 10 and continue until all positions are filled.

Important Steps to Apply

  Step 1 – Application for Acceptance
 
  • Completed Adelphi Archaeology Field Methods in Alaska Application
  • Unofficial University Transcript 
  • One academic reference 
    • Provide a name and contact information for a faculty member or academic adviser who can provide a brief email highlighting how this program will benefit your development.
    • Notify your academic reference to send the email directly to Program Director Brian Wygal at bwygal@adelphi.edu.
  • Letter of Intent prepared by the applicant (two pages)
    • Explain your interest/motivation  past relevant experience, and how the program will contribute to your personal or academic development.
  • Review and agree to abide by the Adelphi University Code of Conduct.  
  • Completed Disclosure and Release form
  • Completed Release from Liability form
  • Completed Emergency Contact Form
  • Completed Photo Release Form
  • Completed Hold Harmless Form
  • Proof of current medical and/or trip insurance
    • Photocopy of valid insurance card or copy of medical/trip insurance policy covering the time you will be spending in Alaska. 
 Step 2 – The following are required for enrollment after acceptance to the program
 
  • Carefully read and review the course syllabus and agree to aspects of the course content (provided upon acceptance)
  • Proof of tetanus vaccination within the last seven years
  • Completed Course Registration Form (provided upon acceptance)
  • Payment in full by check or money order made out to Adelphi University

Acceptance is not guaranteed until enrollment procedures have been completed.


Program Payment

For Adelphi faculty led programs (Summer Term) and all semester and academic year programs, tuition payment is to be made to Adelphi University, do not make any tuition payments to any other institution or program.
